I’ll go inside someday, to feel the Holy Spirit, to listen and to Pray.
I’d been thinking about this day for years.
planning for it,
preparing for it,
working for it.
The day that I would enter the Holy House of the Lord to receive my Endowment. The circumstances of this treasured day were metaphorical in a lot of ways. My journey through rugged terrain to the Star Valley Temple in Afton, Wyoming was one of peril and patience. The morning of my pilgrimage, heavy winter storms coated the rolling landscape in a clean white blanket of powder–laying way for me to make my own, new set of tracks.
Experiencing the Temple for the first time was un-comparable to anything else. Flanked by my loving parents and supportive Aunt and Uncle, I entered the House of the Lord in Star Valley, Wyoming–the beloved land of my ancestors and neighbor to my heavenly habitat, the Grand Tetons. My experience within those holy walls is one I will reflect on for the rest of my life. There were many sweet and small details that stirred a deep sense of familiarity in me. I am looking forward to returning to the house of the Lord often. I made the following video, entitled Higher, to document my memories from that day:
I feel very blessed to have parents who are willing to travel such a distance to make this special event all that it was. Following our quiet and special morning in the Star Valley Temple, we traveled to Jackson Hole and the Teton Valley. Throughout the next couple of days we were spoiled with once in a lifetime wildlife sightings and splendid views. The Tetons and the Temple are similar for me a lot of ways. They’re both places that I go to think and reflect, they’re both places in which I see the hand of God and they’re both places that, through hard work, I can become more than I now am…
Even all that He wants me to be.
